Elizabeth Destefano

Partner

A busy grandmother of seven "nietos", Elizabeth Destefano is far from retirement.  A graduate of Ricardo Palma University in sociology from Lima, Peru and an alumni from Kean University's Spanish Teacher Education program, Elizabeth worked as a Spanish teacher in the nearby public schools for seventeen years. She's a passionate advocate for students from disadvantaged backgrounds bringing enthusiasm and tireless energy to the classroom. Interviewed by a local Plainfield newspaper, Elizabeth is role model in the community for pursuing one's dreams in spite of language, social, and economic barriers.

Outside the classroom, she's dancing with friends and traveling the world with her grandkids. A native of Peru, she's proud of her culinary heritage, but eager to try new foods. Whether entertaining at home with family or dining at restaurants, Elizabeth delights in the shared experience of good food bringing people together.
